In Class Presentations

The presentations in class were really cool. The first thing I learned was about different types of technology you could use. We had someone use a form of I Clickers which was really cool. I never thought of using this type of technology.
The second thing I learned is that technology can be used really well with literacy. One group member used the computers to publish students work. I thought that this was a great idea.

Internet Safety

For this assignment I talked with my parents. I told them about the Frontline videos we watched. My dad remembered seeing this before. I reminded him about what it talked about. We talked about how people just need to be aware of the dangers. He also told me about what he has noticed at home with the kids in our town. He noticed how they usually use the internet for mainly socializing. Kids are loosing their social skills because they are socializing online instead of in person. It was good to talk to my parents and their thoughts on how kids need to be careful and not be on it constantly.

Learn from Presentations

One thing that I learned from other people's presentations is that even though there is little technology in the classroom, you can still use technology very effectively. If you only have one computer or one set of technology equipment, you can still have students take turns and use the technology. This is an important thing I learned from watching other people's presentations of their technology lesson.

Internet Safety

I chose to read Leave it Alone by Elder H. Burke Peterson. The most important thing I learned from this article was to just stay away from the appearance of evil. The best way to stop problems from the media is to just stay away from the bad stuff in the first place. It drives the spirit away so quickly that you can not make good decisions because the spirit can't be with you. What I have read will affect me because I will be more aware of the content of the media around me and my students. I can use what I have read by modeling how to just stay away from inappropriate media. Prevention is the best. If something is inappropriate I will model that we must get rid of it, stay away. Staying away will influence my family and friends for good by helping them stay away as well.
